Argus Park Civil War Reenactment

Reenactment History

The Civil War Reenactment started as an idea
that would help Argus Lodge. I thought of all the
advantages that Allen Lodge has realized from
“Bro. Allen’s Inn”. I thought Argus Lodge
could do the same but use our greatest asset, our park.
I spoke to a number of our members about it and we all
agreed the project should bring back older members,
give newer members a project to work on, bring in new
members*, and also add to the income of the lodge.
We thought the public would enjoy a Civil War
Reenactment, so six members went to 3 different
reenactments to see if this was a feasible
project for us to do.

*Tom and Kevin Hallden, Larry and Brad Marshall,
Steve Oleksiuk, and Greg Anstrom.

This project was 2 years in planning and we started with
a core of 25 committee heads and special task heads.
Eventually about 70 members and some family members
successfully hosted the 1st reenactment in July 2003.
